I love this bandolier-style nappy bag!
After carrying a heavy nappy bag on my shoulder or on the back of my stroller only to have it tip over when I lift my baby out, this nappy bag feels so freeing.
On the front, there''s a super handy pouch for your mobile phone; a place for a pen (you''d be surprised how often this comes in handy); a little square pouch that fits a pacifier, a coin purse (for parking meters!) or your keys depending on how bulky your key fob is; and a slim, little zippered pocket (I carry one of those mini-sized slim lipsticks from Burt''s Bees in this & my keys but not on a fob).
The back of the bandolier has a large main pouch with an interior zippered pocket that will hold 2 nappies, a muslin (takes up less space than a padded changing mat), a slim pouch of wet wipes and even a slim paperback.
There''s another zippered compartment immediately beneath this that is square-shaped and perfect for a square plastic container for 1 standard-sized sandwich with some room to spare on top for a bib, cutlery, a box of raisins & a small bag of rice crackers. If you like the Snack Traps, you can fit two into this compartment by fitting the flat, rounded tops against each other and have some room left to fit things around them. Alternatively, you can fit 1 Snack Trap and a sippy cup (a squat one, not a tall one) in this section.
At the very bottom of the back section is a flat, zippered pocket that fits a small wallet (like a man''s wallet), your subway pass, a small pad of paper (I put in one of those slim format Moleskine notepads), etc. When you need to get at your wallet, you can just pull the bottom of the bandolier towards you and reach this pocket (I think you''d want to beware of pickpockets, but if you trust everyone in your playgroup, no problem!).
Finally, there''s a handy, detachable bottle carrier that is insulated except on the top and bottom.
The only downsides to this carrier are: 1) if you happen to bend forward with a bottle in the bottle carrier and the bottle is not 100% leakproof, you will get some leaks in the bottle carrier or, worse, it might spill out onto you (the bottle carrier isn''t water proof) - I get around this by putting a paper towel over the top of the bottle to wick up any spills; 2) you do need to be economical with your packing so there''s no real room for toys - I tried to solve this by packing into a Ziploc bag 4 crayons and a small format coloring book into the main back compartment''s interior zippered pouch; 3) it is a hassle to swap the contents of your main, big nappy bag back & forth with this little bag - I solved this problem by packing *both* ahead of time so that I''m ready to go at a moment''s notice no matter which bag I go with or what we decide to do.
Interestingly, my husband liked this bag so much he requested I buy it *for him* but in black. In black it''s definitely an ''urban warrior'' kind of bag - probably what appeals to him! |
